One of my favorite moments of this season was at our home meet where one of our matches ended in a tie with even points in each category!

In order to share ourselves with the community, we presented to a group of the Elementary school students here in Oskaloosa. Grades Kindergarten-5th watched as we all presented to them how FIRST and FTC operates, explaining the yearly challenges and telling some of our stories we have. The kids seemed ecstatic as we drove our three bots (MeganBot, Kevin, and Tanki), and when given the chance to drive them they quickly wanted to. This event was a major success! The Sock Monkeys have been doing a lot of prep for our big presentation at the Iowa Energy Basketball Game March 21st! We've (Almost) perfected our Cap Ball Lifter, and are working on a script! We're incredibly excited for the opportunity to promote FIRST to such a large crowd!
Follow our blog here or check out our Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/sockmonkeysrobotics) for updates and pictures! We hope to see you at the game! Make sure to grab your tickets at www.groupmatics.events/osky! The Sock Monkeys had a good event at the Iowa State Championships Friday and Saturday! We took 3rd place in the 6 qualification rounds. Winning 4, loosing 1 and tying 1.
We ended as the second seed alliance captain after first place team choose second place. We choose team 5466 Combustable Lemons and Synthesis Robotics - FTC Team 9955. A valiant Alliance of friends! We performed well in the Driver Controlled portion of both matches but our downfall was Autonomous. Our robot was unable to claim the beacons and we lost in semifinals matches 2 and 3. We were disappointed to learn we weren't a finalists for any judged awards and even though we won't be moving forward to Super Regionals this year I'm very proud of our team! Good luck Synthesis (Iowa Championship Motivate award winner) and Combustible Lemons (Second Place Inspire winner) at the Super Regionals tournament! We were recently invited to do a presentation at the Oskaloosa School Board Meeting to talk about our robotics season so far. Instead of going too far into it I'll point you to this wonderful article by the Oskaloosa Herald!
