Once again, thank you to those of you who helped the robotics club in buying a shirt. They will be in tomorrow after school, so make sure to remind your son/daughter to grab the appropriate sizes and numbers. :D
Check out coaches corner for the updates and announcements that were made tonight at the parent meeting!

There will be a meeting Monday at 6 PM in Mrs. Ernt's room (room right beside the robotics room) for parents concerning Super Regionals! :D
We need your help. The FTC North Super Regional is being planned and coordinated by The College of Engineering at The University of Iowa. Because of this, we have to follow The University’s system in regards to reaching out media. And, honestly, I have not been very happy with this system. When we send out press releases and press notifications, the press doesn’t grab at them. This is where WE NEED YOUR HELP. Help us bring attention to the FTC North Super Regional. Reach out to the media outlets in your area and beyond. Let’s get as much attention on this as we can. As hard as we try to reach out to media outlets, they like to hear from schools and kids. (And, the great things being done at schools with kids.) TIME FOR US TO MAKE FTC CELEBRATED. Attached is a sample press release. This is to help you get started. For more information about press releases, please visit: http://www.webwire.com/FormatGuidelines.asp The yellow areas is where you enter information about your team, if you chose to do so. If these could go out to media outlets during the week of March 24 - that would be greatly appreciated. Also, start tweeting! #FTCNorthSR and @FTC_North_SR Lets make this event viral!! Thanks! Just a piece of the competition information we've received. This list is missing about 10-15 teams. Pretty neat to see all the names and such. :) "Abron" is what division we're in. I don't know exactly how it's going to help for future reference, but it will be useful. On April 10th, the robotics club (EVERYONE) has the opportunity to visit Paslode. We will be loading up immediately after school. Paslode is where Mr. Dixon works! The address is 2305 South 35th Street Oskaloosa, Ia 52577.
If you have any further questions, go to coaches corner to find contact information on the coaches and ask them! :D Wow! Apparently the CRI is coming in to see us today also. At 4 pm they will be coming in and video taping us and probably asking a couple of questions, and at 6:30 the board of education will be coming in to ask us questions about robotics and possibly learn more information about us. It's an exciting day for everyone and we're all really excited.
Today, while I was shopping for prom shoes, one of the workers (This sweet woman) asked me why I wasn't sleeping in today. I explained to her that I needed prom shoes and quick because I was on my way to Robotics. This woman was extremely shocked because 1) It's our school's spring break. 2) I'm a girl in a "male" sport. So She asked me, "what do you do?" I then proceeded to explain to her that I work on the website (this) and I made our twitter page, and our gmail. Recently, we had a bake sale that some of the robotics kids and their parents helped out! I talked about our Super Regional support tee's and about how we just went to the Oskaloosa Public Library to talk to the kids about our robot. I also told her about the Linda (4443's robot) and what she does. I explained this years game, and talked about Team 3608. Surprisingly, this woman extremely interested in everything that was happening. She congratulated us on everything that is happening and how we've made it so far. She asked how many kids were involved and I said anywhere from 20-30. After many questions later- and a pair of shoes for prom- I asked if she would take a photo with me. She told me that I made her day and she was inspired by Spring break is here! VACATION TIME!!...right?
nope. :D The robotics club will be meeting up Thursday and Friday from 10-1 with Mrs. Eveland. Yesterday, Mrs. Eveland came in to see the Sock Monkeys and it was good cleaning time (and catching up)! She slept from 2pm to 9am once! SOOOOOO lucky. On Monday, March 24th the board members will be in the robotics room to ask the kids questions, see the robot and learn more about Robotics. It is asked that ALL Sock Monkey Members attend and a couple of 3608 members. The Robotics T-shirt order forms are due today also! The outcome is looking pretty good. :D Thank you to those of you who helped support us. :) |
